Privacy Policy for Molecule
This Privacy Policy describes how Moodstone Technology Limited ("Moodstone", "we", "our", or "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you play or interact with the Molecule mobile and web application ("the App").
1. Information We Collect
Molecule is designed to respect your privacy. We do not require you to create an account with email or passwords, and we do not collect personally identifiable information (PII) such as your real name, email address, phone number, or address book contacts.
However, we use trusted infrastructure and services that collect certain technical and gameplay data to ensure the App functions properly:
- Firebase Analytics & Crashlytics (by Google): We use Firebase to understand game stability, identify software errors, and detect crashes. This service collects anonymous usage data, device model, operating system version, and crash logs.
- Firebase Authentication & Cloud Firestore (by Google): We use Firebase to manage Daily Challenge global leaderboards, custom leagues, and device-to-device profile sync. We generate an anonymous User ID and store your chosen "Display Name" alongside your gameplay scores, completion times, ranks, unlocked badges, and onboarding milestone progress. This data is not linked to your real identity.
- Push Notifications (Apple APNs & Google FCM): If you grant permission to receive push notifications, we store an anonymous device push token to deliver Daily Challenge reminders, friend score alerts, and laboratory updates. We also log notification interactions (such as opens and permission status) to optimize reminder timing. You can opt out at any time in your device system settings.
- RevenueCat: We use RevenueCat to manage In-App Purchases (such as unlocking the "Pro" version). RevenueCat collects anonymous app-user IDs and purchase history to verify and restore your transactions across devices. It does not collect your credit card or payment details (those are handled securely by Apple or Google).
- Google AdMob: We use Google AdMob to display advertisements in the App. AdMob collects anonymous device information, ad interaction data, and coarse location to serve non-personalized ads. On iOS, personalized ads are only requested if you grant Apple App Tracking Transparency (ATT) permission. AdMob does not track you across third-party apps or websites.
- Device Settings & Region: To display regional flags on leaderboards and format dates appropriately, the App reads your device's standard locale and time zone settings. The App does not request or access GPS or precise location data.
2. How We Use Your Information
The anonymous data collected is used solely for the following purposes:
- To monitor and analyze App usage and trends to improve gameplay and tutorial onboarding.
- To populate global leaderboards and custom leagues for the Daily Challenge.
- To deliver push notifications, daily challenge alerts, and friend score updates when enabled.
- To detect, investigate, and fix bugs and crashes.
- To process and verify your In-App Purchases and allow you to restore them on new devices.
3. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, trade, rent, or lease any of your information to third parties, advertisers, or data brokers. Your data is only shared with essential infrastructure providers (Google Firebase, RevenueCat, and Google AdMob) strictly for gameplay functionality, analytics, crash reporting, and purchase verification.
4. Security & Data Encryption
All data transmitted between the Molecule application and our backend servers is encrypted in transit using industry-standard TLS/HTTPS protocols. Data stored on cloud databases is protected using secure access controls.
5. Data Control & Deletion Requests
You have full control over your data. Molecule does not store personal account credentials (passwords or emails). You can reset your local progress at any time by clearing app data or uninstalling the app. If you wish to delete your anonymous Firebase profile, leaderboard scores, or push notification tokens from our servers, you can submit a deletion request by contacting us at support@moodstone.com with your in-game Display Name or User ID.
6. Children's Privacy
The App does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we immediately delete this from our servers.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date.
